Photos. Culture. History

Media Spot, is a project which I have started and by which I hope to gather “spots” that represent and capture all that is Maltese and all that makes up the Maltese Islands.

Photography is one of the most powerful tools that man has to remember, capture and forever hold on too.

This project will never be completed because there is always more photos to be taken.  And as long as I am able, that is what I will do.

Media Spot also has its cultural side, that of focusing on the historical aspect of the Maltese Islands and conveying their beauty to all that visit them, virtually and then hopefully physically.

It is great fun compiling this album and it has brought me to many places htat I had only seen from a far.

I hope you find this site useful and if you require any of the photos that are here please email me.

Photo of the Moment

Mnajdra / Spring Equinox.  This photo was taken at 06h40 on the 20th March 2006 at Mnajdra Temples, Malta.  The 5000 year old temple is spleanded during the first sunrise of Spring.

Yours to Discover

L-Ghar il-Kbir.  This wonderful cave is to be found in the limits of Dingli just a little way from the back road of Buskett.  The best way to arrive here is by taking the Rabat road leading towards Buskett Forest, drive all the way down until you get to a ‘T” section.  Over here you will find many signs to various places you will definitely want to visit.  One of them is L-Ghar il-Kbir.  Taking the road on the left drive up slowly and keep an eye out for a drive way on the right.  Do not drive in, park the car (unless you decide to include this as part of your Sunday walk) and walk in.

You will first want to admire the cart ruts (Clapham Junction Cart ruts).  Walking over the cart ruts you will also see 3 wells dug into the ground surrounded by a low rubble wall boarder.  Walking further up you will arrive to your destination.

The cave was destroyed to eradicate the troglodyte village.  Visit the site to learn more about this community and the amazing way of life they chose to live.

The Project

The project is just getting bigger.  My first aim was that of gathering as many photos of Maltese localities possible.  Now I am looking at heritage sites.  I am also involving a few friends to make it a much more interesting activity.  By getting so close to so many beautiful locations and sites I also want to do my part in protecting, promoting and respecting our nature, countryside and heritage.
